Indonesia to Host Health and Wellness Expo in Sihanoukville

Phnom Penh, March 20, 2024 – Santo Darmosumarto, the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, has announced plans to hold a health and wellness products exhibition in Sihanoukville on June 8-9, 2024. The announcement came during a meeting with Mang Sineth, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, at the provincial hall on March 19, 2024.

The exhibition, motivated by a request from Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Sihanoukville, aims to address the health care knowledge gap among the Indonesian community residing in the province. "Many Indonesians living in Sihanoukville are unaware of the available health care services. This event is a response to the Governor's directive," explained Ambassador Darmosumarto. The two-day event will feature health advice forums, product exhibitions, and free medical check-ups by Indonesian doctors in collaboration with local medical professionals from the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.

Ambassador Darmosumarto also emphasized the importance of bilingual health information dissemination to benefit both Indonesian and Cambodian communities and highlighted the focus on maternal and child health. He further requested the participation of the Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province in the event's opening ceremony and called for widespread promotion of the exhibition.

Deputy Governor Mang Sineth expressed support for the initiative, pledging to facilitate the event's organization and to promote Indonesian health and wellness products in Sihanoukville. He highlighted the significant Indonesian presence in the city and assured a safe and welcoming environment for investors and residents alike.

The Deputy Governor also provided an overview of Preah Sihanouk Province's geographical features and investment potential. With its strategic coastal location, the province boasts a deep-sea port, an international airport, and connectivity to Phnom Penh via highway and rail. Additionally, ongoing infrastructure projects aim to enhance the province's appeal as a hub for investment and tourism.

This health and wellness exhibition underscores the strong bilateral relations between Cambodia and Indonesia, celebrating over 65 years of cooperation. It also reflects Sihanoukville's growing status as a vibrant community and a key destination for international collaboration.
